Direction Unit: Idea development

Today's workshop helped us to work on directing performers. Our first activity was to, in groups, direct two other in a scene from 'atonement.' This particular scene was a very heart wrenching scene in a cafe, between the two main character Robbie and Cee. Above is the original clip of this scene from (1.30 onwards.) It's funnt how completely different our scenes are compared to this. I really like the shot in this where Robbie is stirring his tea and moves his hand away from hers, it is very powerful. This workshop really helped me as it showed that I can direct people that arent trained actors, but friends or family.
The second part of the workshop was to become our chosen character from the drama we have chosen. The character I chose to do was Tony Stoneam from Skins. This was the  short description I wrote about him:
'Arrogant, cocky, self assured, has a lot to say, well spoken, has an answer to everything, well presented, controlling, clever. His mum is a pushover, his dad is not strict but gets angry easily and swears a lot. Tony gets on well with his sister even though she doesn't speak alot. Girls crave his attention, he loves this but plays it cool and has a loyal girlfriend, Michelle.'
I will put on the scene I directed today as soon as I have edited it!
