Today my first job was to meet the Audio Playback Operator, William, outside the park so that i could give him his parking permit so he could park at the car park.
The night before on my way home, I had done some research at
the train station, to find out which road was easiest to meet William on.
Obviously during the Olympics a lot of the roads were closed for different
reasons but I found a road which we could meet that was easy to get to from the
Olympic park. So i let him know what road this would be and set off in the morning to meet him.
However it was
not as easy to find as the worker had explained to me. After wondering around
completely lost for 5 minutes, I decided the best thing to do was to go to the
tourist information bureau and get a town map. Luckily this map was easy to
follow and I found the road with no problem at all once I had the map. I had
left plenty of time to meet this man, so I was not late and arrived on time.
Once I had given him the parking permit the next job was to find the car park.
This was not as easy it sounded at all as so many roads were closed, no one
could tell us where we needed to go as none of the volunteers knew. I took
control of the situation by ringing the Welcome Centre and they eventually
found out and told us where we had to go. Three vehicle security check later
and we eventually got into the carpark!
So eventually after all this we got into the Water Polo Arena and made it just in time for the start of the rehearsal.
The rest of the day was just spent rehearsing for the first competition day, so was a very short day, just so everyone could get to grip with their equipment.
A local Water Polo team was used to practise walking out onto the floor of play.
