'Dear Maddie,
Thank you for your email. You project sounds very interesting and I too love the Larkin poem, however, for all sorts of reasons there are very strict restrictions around filming in the Cathedral and therefore I am afraid I unable to grant permission. I am sorry if this is disappointing and hope that you may be able to think of another poem and/theme.
With best wishes,
Ruth'
Oh well onwards and upwards! I would still like to use the chruch theme as the poem is about mainly about the death of these two lovers. However as the main theme of the poem is about love I would like this to play a big part in the short film.
I would like to have the idea that I mentioned before about the home videos of different people in love and ask them what love means to them, intertwined within images of a young bride grieving being filmed around a church and graveyard with the lines of the poem being spoken over the top of these striking images. The film with an old couple being asked about love and then the young bride will be reunited with her groom and lay to rest with him. I know these ideas and images are very different so right now im not sure if they will work togeather but I really hope I can make them.
I would like to film the church scenes around dusk and when the sun goes down as I think this will give it an eerie feel about the piece. This doesnt help with my filming conditions so I would have to carefully plan this to give me enough time.
These are some images I have looked to as inspiration as I really like the feel and look of them:
